The Lord of the Rings: a toroidal epic
You'll have to see it to believe it. A delicious adaptation, this completely unlicensed parody covers every single chapter of the most famous fantasy trilogy ever written.
Yes, including Tom Bombadil. And the Barrow Wights. And the Scouring of the Shire. Every chapter. Even the ones most of us kinda breeze through because we know what's going to happen and really, it's all one long celebration, or one long trudge or one long talk around a campfire. Yes, even those chapters. Every chapter.
In ten minutes.

Production Diary
07-25-2007: In a glorious victory for the People's Republic Of Movies That Make You Laugh In Astonishment, Lord of the Rings: A Toroidal Epic has won Second Place in the Fantasy Division at the Conestoga Film Festival.
02-02-2007: In a glorious victory for the People's Republic Of Cheap-Ass Movies, Lord of the Rings: A Toroidal Epic has been accepted by the Faux Film Festival and will premiere April 1, 2007. At least that's what they tell us.
- 01-09-2007: In unholy matrimony, I join the music to the video, yea verily, and thus is born a monster. A sweet, delicious monster! I love it! The music adds just the right period sensibility to this project. DeLonde helps me do the final sync over the phone, which, in retrospect, is weird, because he can't quite see the video.
- 01-07-2007: DeLonde sends the music for the first two chapters.
- 01-05-2007: DeLonde sends the music for everything from Chapter 3 on. It sounds absolutely delightful! I can't wait to get the rest of the audio and marry it all together.
- 12-22-2006: Aaron comes by and spends an afternoon working his post-production magic. We fiddle with all sorts of settings, and eventually, he finds the Magic Combination that makes the movie look sufficiently old and worn out, but not ilegible. A perfect period piece!
- 12-15-2006: Editing is finished. As I estimated, came in just about ten minutes. Ten minutes and eight seconds, to be exact. However, I was able to shave enough seconds from it to keep it under ten minutes. Hooray! Now for the fancy post-production effects and the music!
- 11-04-2006: We shoot principal photography. We get everything in one day. The house is a beehive of activity and we kick ass! Ryan stops by to visit and commented "This is exactly what I expected it would be like!"
- 11-01-2006: Aaron sends me a preliminary mpeg of some of the title cards. This looks really great!
- 10-15-2006: After a massive delay (read: we made another movie), we start moving on this project. A good meeting, gathering of the materials, and overview of the process.
- 09-15-2004: Script complete.
